Streamlining My Wardrobe in 2013

One of the first items on my "to-do's" for 2013 is to go through my closet, get organized, weed out items that can be donated, and try to re-focus my wardrobe. As you can tell, my style tends to be on the classic side with a hint of "sometimes I dress like I am still ten years old." Since becoming a young professional, I have began to feel like my wardrobe needs to become a bit more streamlined and focused on the future of my business/myself as a brand. This year I am determined to spend less on silly filler items and more on investment pieces that can maintain their wear for years to come. Above are a few items that I think are staples in every woman's wardrobe {and worth the extra pennies!}.

A new year is the perfect time to tackle that extra weight that has been looming in your closet. If you're interested in my help, please check out my services and email me to schedule a closet consultation!

  2. I love the pieces you chose to feature in your post. I totally agree with the weeding out of the closet on your to do list. I currently have a couple bags of clothes to be donated to charity, but I know there's more in my closet so I need to start getting cutthroat and really getting rid of items I just don't wear anymore.
    Happy new year!

  4. Love your picks. I go for classic pieces with small punches of trend myself. Definitely thinking about doing a online personal shopping/inspiration session with you as I start to shed some baby pounds later this year. Thinking it'll be time for a closet reboot!

  5. I need to remember to not always give in and buy a bunch of trendy stuff, classic is such a good investment and always, always is in!

  6. My big weekend plans are a birthday dinner and cleaning out my closest! You're right, time to make room for some more classic pieces, and old things that I'm not saving from college just for whatever reason. It will feel good to donate things too. Happy cleaning!

  7. I started doing this when I was packing for vacation, which mostly involved throwing out every single thing I owned from forever21.

  16. I love the roundup! That camel bag has been on my list forever as well as a good pair of red flats/pumps. I also loooove the striped cashmere sweater. its a fun twist on a necessary basic. You've re-inspired me to be more deliberate in my purchases this year

  28. Cleaning out my closet is my favorite thing to do! I absolutely love going through it, makes me feel much better. Excellent choices with your essentials - multi-season/multi-functional.

  29. This is on my list as well. I have so many things I don't wear or use! I'm moving to a much smaller place so downsizing isn't an option.

  31. I always justify more expensive purchases with the fact that I overall purchase less items, and rather items of higher quality. I never seem to find items I truly like at the lower end (in price and quality) stores anyway! I cleaned out my closet last week and I love going into it every morning and being able to see everything organized. It's such a great feeling! Good luck with your cleaning and streamlining!
