Outfit: Goodbye 2012

A few shots from our day in Charleston, strolling down King Street and soaking up the beautiful weather with my family and Dave. We head home tomorrow and will be celebrating an amazing year and the start of what I think will be an even better new year to come.

This year I began offering styling services, wrote a popular post for my readers about blogging, shared some Things I'm Afraid to Tell You, and Blogging as a Business. I got an office with Alex! I teamed up with some amazing brands, including Shopbop, Henri Bendel, Jack Rogers, Charm & Chain, Rue La La, Illume Candles + more. S&S joined the fabulous family at Glam Media, and 2013 holds so many exciting opportunities for this blog. So thank you for making S&S a part of your day, for visiting, for your emails + comments of support, for being patient with me when I don't respond as quick/often as I'd like, for helping to spread the word, and for being my biggest fans day in and day out. None of the amazing things that happened this year would have happened without you and for that I thank you so so so much!

Cheers to a new year, a new outlook, new opportunities, new priorities, and a clean slate! xoxo

...from Charleston!

My family and I are at our home on the islands outside of Charleston, enjoying long walks, warm-er temps, shopping, tasty meals, and cocktails with friends. I hope you all had a wonderful week and are preparing for the start of a new year! I have to say, I am so looking forward to all of the exciting change to come in 2013. A few fun updates are in the works for S&S which I am anxious to share with you.

So, happy weekend, friends! I hope you enjoy those last few days of 2012.

Outfit: Holiday

I wore this outfit on Christmas Eve with my family. A little bit of cozy, a little bit of sparkle, and a festive skirt. The perfect holiday combination. I'm not ready to say goodbye to obnoxiously festive attire! And, how cute is Gus' little face peering through the window in the bottom photo?

Thanks for the photo's, mom :)

NYE Dresses

A few last minute options for your browsing pleasure! But, hop to it, time is running out to snag one of these beauties. Do you prefer to make a statement in sequins & metallics, or do you like to be bold with florals and other embellishments? I have to say, that Nanette Lepore dress is my f.a.v.o.r.i.t.e. So fun to wear with tights now and perfect for Spring/Summer soiree's, too!

Here I Go

Hi friends! Today I am jetting off to Charleston, SC to celebrate the rest of the holiday season at our house on the island. I have a ton of posts coming your way through the new year to ensure that 2012 goes out with a bang. I hope you all celebrated a wonderful holiday yesterday; it's always bittersweet to watch such an anticipated and wonderful day go by in a flash. Makes me so thankful for all of the little {big} things in my life. I hope you continue to celebrate over the next week, it is still the holiday season and any excuse to drink an obscene amount is fine by me {I seriously gained 10 well-worth-it pounds yesterday}.

It's the most wonderful time of the year! And I have to say, I love Christmas Eve almost as much as Christmas Day. I am indulging in all of my favorite things at home with my family, I hope you are too!

Today marks two long weeks of family time on the horizon that I am so looking forward to! So in the spirit of Christmas, and giving, and being thankful for all of the miracles in our own lives, for our loved ones, and for all that glitters and shines and makes this holiday season so special...here are a few images to spark your inner cheer and get you in the spirit.

A Few Festive Ingredients

I wish I could put the faces of my parents and siblings on this image because they really are the most important part of my Christmas experience; but these are some close runner's up. The end of this year has been a complete blur and it has taken me awhile to get into the holiday spirit. Sometimes it's fun to detail those little things that really make this time of year feel so special. Do you have any specific things that bring out the holidays for you?

Outfit: The Run-Around

Club Monaco Sweater  //  Zara Faux Leather Pants  //  Pour La Victoire Heels  //  C/FAN Snood from Edith Hart {similar style}  //  Henri Bendel Bag  //  Club Monaco Necklace {no longer available but love this option}  //  Bauble Bar Earrings {similar style}

This time of year has been so busy that I've been pulling out my more traditional and comfortable {with a hint of novelty} items to take me from the office, to meetings, to lunches, to the grocery store, to dinners at home. This specific outfit is the perfect example. I am loving these comfortable {and affordable!} leather leggings, a slouchy dolman sweater, comfortable wedges and a sparkly necklace - an outfit made up of easy basics that appears chic and effortless.

I've gotten so many requests of where to purchase this snood, so here is the link from Edith Hart! I'm obsessed.

GOAB: Splurge/Save

A no brainer in my book, don't you agree?

GOAB: 4 Necklaces under $100

When cleaning out my jewelry box the other day, I realized that I have way too many necklaces. Only four of them get the majority of the wear and if you can get them at a great deal then it is something that you need to know about. Here are my suggestions for the girl on a budget:

A classic crystal strand {great for layering}.
A timeless gold chain {great for layering}.

Layer the statement necklace with either layering piece, wear them separately, load them up...whatever you prefer! All of these necklaces are the perfect base for a beautiful jewelry collection.

GOAB: Wardrobe Staples for Spring

Did you know that emerald is the Pantone color of 2013? There are a ton of good sales going on right now, so of course it's the perfect time to stock up for Spring! I've assembled a few of my favorite items for the girl on a budget, happy shopping!

Jack Rogers Giveaway

There are a few items that consistently stay in my closet regardless of the season, one of them being my Jack Rogers navajo sandals. They are staples for warm weather, beach vacays, and for my upcoming trip to Charleston, which promises to be much warmer than Chicago. Over the years, I have accumulated quite the collection but recently I've discovered a new favorite: the Black Label Navajo Sandal. They say it is their most "city chic sandal" with no visible stitching for a streamlined look, no heel pad, and a specialized leather sole. Frankly, they are just really pretty, sleek and sophisticated - a timeless staple for any woman's wardrobe. Today I have some exciting news for you because my very good friends at JR want to give one of you a little something special for the holidays...

My Heart is Heavy

Although I may not have been directly affected by the Sandy Hook shootings in Newtown, Connecticut, I know that the world is grieving for those families that lost a loved one on Friday morning. Amidst all of the happy things I portray on this blog, and the material things {that seem so silly at times}, and because it is the holidays, and this time of year my heart seems to explode with emotions and thankfulness; I want to extend my arms to those in Newtown. As beautiful as this world can be, it is also a very scary place. So, hug your loved ones a little tighter over the next few weeks {and every day}, count your blessings, pay attention and don't take your days for granted. You never know when they can run up.

God bless those sweet, innocent children and all those grieving in the world.

Weekend Style

Nothing like a little color to put a pep in your step when it is time to get down to business! I love how this sweater steals the show, and topped with a bright green coat and metallic shoes, seriously too good.

Are you done with your holiday shopping?

Hope you're enjoying your Saturday! I am busy baking like a mad woman for our party tonight.

Happy Friday!

Dave and I are hosting our first Christmas party in our own little home this weekend. Let the toasting, cheersing, indulging, dancing, and merry making begin!

Have a wonderful weekend, friends. xoxo

December Favorites

A few items I am thankful for this season, how about you?

My Henri Bendel Shopping Event

It's safe to say that Henri Bendel is one of the prettiest stores around. It honestly feels like a candy shop for adults. I'd love to share some photos of my event blow {bare with me, there are quite a few!}...

We spent the night playing dress up, and loading up on all of HB's gorgeous baubles!

The candle wall is probably my favorite. Do you have a favorite scent? Mine are Amber, Fig, Firewood, Silver Birch, and Peony
