We need a new rug.

I need your advice. I made the mistake of purchasing a wool/jute loopy rug that Webster has destroyed {it is also a magnet for dark chocolate puppy hairs}. That being said, we need something new. My couch and chair are a grey velvet, so should I keep it neutral, or move towards a grey on grey. I could also go more graphic but it is a small space and I plan on bringing loads of color in with the decor of the room.

Help me, I'm lost.

  1. #3 is one of my favorite rugs, but I think #1 is very elegant.

  2. I'm kind of loving the mini dot! It's so different!! :)

  3. I absolutely love the mini dots - I think they'll be perfect with velvet and you can't beat the price...

  4. #1 is probably going to be best for dog hair. #2 is my favorite because it reminds me of Stark's anteolope rug (http://www.starkcarpet.com/carpet/?catgy=4)

  5. definitely 2 or 3. I think 2 is better and not so much grey with the couch/chair, but I have a similar rug and the cream color gets dirty looking very easily!

  6. love #3, but if you already have a lot of grey going on, i might go with #1!

  7. i love #3. i had a rug similar to #2 and the dog hair would get stuck in it. :(

  8. The mini-dot rug is amaze--love!

  9. I love that second choice- have you checked out Dash & Albert? They have beautiful patterns. Available through Layla Grayce and I am sure a million other sites.

  10. Option #1 is fabulous! And will hide a litany of spills and stains.

  12. TAKE THE RUG BACK!! Seriously, we bought that same rug you have. I remember asking you about it. It had so many snags and just wasn't the quality we paid for. West Elm took it back and said they could have told us it was a bum rug! Apparently, several people returned it, too. We got a full refund and picked something else.

Another thought- I ordered the Dottie Rug from Pottery Barn Teen and love it. It's in my kitchen. I just got a rug mat for underneath. I'm pretty pleased with it. That being said, I like the third one with dots.

  13. i love #2 and #3, the cream on #2 might show puppy hair pretty quickly though so my vote is the polka dot one!!

  14. We just got a similar rug to #1 in our bedroom from West Elm. It make the room look much bigger. We love it!

  15. I really like 3, it's pretty and whimsical. A couple of things you could consider is getting an indoor/outdoor rug (Dash & Albert have nice ones), they are easier and cheaper to keep clean, which can be an issue with spills and pets! I also have gray velvet furniture, I found that a rug is a perfect way to add a pop of color to your living room.

  16. I LOVE rug number two - sooo great, and the stripes match your namesake :)

  17. I love number 2 but I feel like it will get dirty pretty quickly. Number 1 is cool but it may make you a little dizzy after awhile. Thus, I think number 3 is the winner!

  19. I'm a stripes kinda girl, love #2!!! (I'll just take whatever two you don't decide off of your hands)

  20. I know this may seem counter intuitive, but I have 110 pound lab and another 25 pound mix and the Memphis steel rug from Crate and Barrel has held up wonderfully (and doesn't show dirt and stains!)

  21. #1! It's a knock-off of West Elm, but looks to be the same price (and out of stock). I would do the West Elm version! The neutral-ness of it would look so great with your decor! You don't need the dots or strips - especially since it sounds like you're focusing on color/pattern with accessories.

  22. I would go for stripes! Classy, a little bit old-fashioned but also modern and edgy when combined with the right furniture.
I love your blog! Greeting from spain!

  23. I love #2 but I think it will be the worst in the dog hair hiding department. I think the color of #3 is pretty fab too but #1 is probably the best for dog hair. That was a whole lot of no help, huh? lol

  24. This is going to be of no help...but I love them all! I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

  25. I love them all...but #1 and # are my picks! We have a rug similar to #1 and it's held up to our goldendoodle pup! Can't wait to see what you choose!

  27. I have a rug that looks just like the first one - its a beige + white herringbone and I love it. It's enough of a pattern to add interest, but blends with other prints really well!

  33. I just got the Capel Sahara rug but in Navy. I love that it's reversible which makes the life of the rug last longer, so I would choose #1! I purchased mine from RugsDirect.com and it looks like it's cheaper by 20%. Good luck!
