A few of my sweet readers commented + emailed me yesterday in regards to my "glowing" skin. First of all, thank you! Second of all, I have to say that I don't think I had washed my face that morning so that glowing skin may have been oily skin. But either way, I really appreciate your compliments and decided to give you a peek into my daily beauty regiment.
Let me preface this post by saying that I have to thank the skin gods for blessing me with pretty good skin. I have never had to deal with acne {aside from a few blemishes here and there}, but I also have to say that I drink a lot of water. I have always been a water drinker, when I was younger I never drank juice, or soda, just some good ol' ice water. I probably drink 3 liters a day, and on days when I don't drink a lot of water, I can feel it in my skin. Is that weird?
I also have to say that I am somewhat disabled in the beauty department. I only wear the basics, I don't know how to wear eyeliner {any special techniques?}, and rarely wear eyeshadow. I like to stick to a pretty clean palette.
First, let's start with cleansing and moisturizing:
Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action Pads: I use these every morning and every night. They burn, really bad, but they make my skin clean and dry and even. These get rid of any lingering residue and probably help to keep my skin extra clean.
Lumene Vitamin C+ Pure Radiance Day Cream: I love that this is over the counter but definitely feels like the most expensive cream in any department store. This has the perfect amount of moisture and a tiny tint of shimmer which is a nice base to applying my makeup. *I use this in the morning or after I shower.
Burt's Bees Radiance Serum: I don't know what this stuff does, but I think it has something to do with magic. If I use this religiously I can see a significant difference in the lines and the elasticity of my skin. *I put two drops on my face and neck before I go to bed.
Makeup:
Smashbox Sheer Focus Tinted Moisturizer: This acts as my foundation and my concealer and is practically weightless. I love that it is sheer enough to not feel like you're wearing makeup, but tinted enough to conceal. I highly recommend!
BareMinerals Faux Tan Bronzing Powder: I don't use a ton of this, but it is nice to have an even tint of tan on your face to bring a little life into your skin after a long winter. I am a huge fan of the Bare Escentuals line because it is light weight, easy to apply, and is always even.
Dior Rosy Glow Healthy Glow Awakening Blush: I never leave the house without a little blush on my cheeks. It is the perfect way to add depth to your face and define those feminine cheek bones! I typically use a deeper shade in the winter but I just purchased this blush and it is the perfect shade for warmer days to come. It really does wake up your face with it's tiny illuminating flecks.
Diorshow Mascara: The best, end of story.
BareMinerals Eyeshadow in Queen Phyllis: This is probably what I should thank for dewy skin. Sephora describes this eyeshadow as "soft sunlight." Here is my secret: I don't use this as eyeshadow, I use it as an illuminator. I put a soft sweep at the top of my cheek bones {right under my eyes} and down the center of my nose {which this may seem weird, but I remember sitting at a MAC counter in high school and one of the makeup artists gave me this tip for slimming your face?}. I do use this as eyeshadow when I'm feeling fancy, just not everyday.
Lancome L'ABSOLU Rouge: I love this lipstick. It is smooth, sheer, and feels like water when you put it on your lips. For someone who isn't always comfortable wearing a matte lipstick {which I think can be kind of harsh at times} this is a wonderful alternative for everyday lips.
Bare Escentuals Brushes: Soft and sturdy! I use the entire set.
So there you have it! Oh, and I also use this if I need a bit of under-eye concealer and I use these to remove my makeup.
Do you have any beauty secrets? I'd love to hear + learn some new tips!

Love that blush! I think I'm going to go pick that up.
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit of a nut when it comes to my routine. I always use my clarisonic at night and I use only korres products. I'd say it's borderline psychosis. The wild rose line is my favorite, hands down.
I also never leave the house without blush and mascara. I love DiorShow!
You do have some pretty incredible skin, Liz!! Always glowing! I might have to check out that Burt's Bees Serum!
ReplyDeleteI am all about the under eye! I load on the creams and gels for my poor hereditary dark circles, but cover with tons of concealer to hide those babies!
Will have to try the Burt's Bees eye serum! Sounds great!!

I love that you shared your favorite beauty products! I love peeking in to other's makeup bags. Glad to hear you drink a lot of water- I need to be better about that!
ReplyDeleteI don't wear eye liner either! My sisters think that's very bizarre, but I just don't know how to, so I don't bother. Your routine is pretty similar to mine. Good to stick with what works!
ReplyDeleteI definitely need to look into some of these products. That Lumene Day Cream sounds like it is just what I've been looking for. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletethis is a great post! i may have to try the Lumene and Burts bees now!
ReplyDeleteooo I really want to try that Burt's Bees serum! and I love bare minerals make up as well.

I love bare minerals.. definitely my go to. Where did you get that serum? I'd love to try it!
ReplyDeleteI recently bought a Clarisonic and am loving it! Might be a nice addition to your routine. And, I just switched my cleansing/moisturizing routine to LUSH...all natural products. I'm in love!
ReplyDeleteI always love learning other blogger's beauty routines. I'm a total product junkie myself. Obsessed with my clarisonic, adore a good face oil (Rodin + Sunday Riley make my favorites,) and recently discovered Exude's lipsticks. The red cream one is unreal. I really want to try that pink blush you featured - looks like such a fun shade!
ReplyDeletewow thanks for sharing! interested in trying out the burts bees serum. Re: eyeliner - get the Mac or Bobbi Brown gel liners and a small angled brush. Its the easiest way to wear non-severe eyeliner. I'll be coming back later this afternoon to read the whole post! xo

I may in fact just be copying this routine Liz. I feel like I search and search for a new beauty routine and I haven't found one that sticks yet. But yours seems simple and effective. Oh and I for sure need to drink more water!
ReplyDeleteI've been hankering for a good beauty routine ... I'm a clinique girl, and it seems to do the trick ... maybe I'm hankering for new makeup ... eh either way I need a little change up!

Try Stila's eyeliner pen. It's the easiest thing ever to apply and fairly inexpensive. Just remember to hold the pen parrellel to your lash line and drag along your lash line, inside to outside. The harder you push, the thicker the line. I generally like a thicker line on the outside half of my eye so I apply more pressure there and then flick the line up slightly (and thinly) up towards my eyebrow bone to make a small cat eye. Hope that helps! All around great picks Liz!
ReplyDeleteHow perfect! I've been looking for a new tinted moisturizer - I'll definitely have to try out Smashbox :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your beauty routine! I always like taking a peek at what other women do.
ReplyDeleteAn eyeliner you should try - Stila Smudge Pots...the best I have found. And it stays on all day!! Great for a night out too! Thanks for sharing. I wish I were blessed with your skin...
ReplyDeleteBecause Shanna Said So
What a great post. Thanks for the tips and product ideas!
ReplyDeletelove this! i tend to stick to the basics too.. and i'm a big believer in taking care of your skin vs wearing lots of makeup! xo
ReplyDeleteDior mascara is heaven. It even smells good! There's nothing better.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, liz! I may need to invest in some Bare Escentuals products!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! I definitely want to get that Bare Escentuals eyeshadow! What a great re-use of the product! I'll also have to check out that Dior mascara!

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing all the great products!
oooh love that BB serum and the gorgeous blush!! might have to try both out!! i swear by laura mercier tinted moisturizer and the tarte cheek stains :) (if you want to try eyeliner, ELF makes a good one that is basically a thin marker - easy to apply and stays on all day!)

I hear (and read) people talking wonders about Clarisonic but I'm still not brave enough to make the investment..
ReplyDeleteNope, not weird at all. Water is easily the thing that'll make anyone's skin look the best. 3L a day?!?!?! No wonder you're glowing!
ReplyDeleteI'm the exact same way when it comes to skin... I always felt guilty when I would freak about one pimple and then my friends would have legit concerns! As for eyeliner, I didn't wear eyeliner or eye shadow until college, and up until this year (my junior year) my friend would apply my eye shadow and liner for me because I didn't want to mess it up. With auburn hair and fair skin, eyeliner always made my eyes pop too much, so i only apply it to my top lid unless I want to make a big statement.... and I use a pen because liquid liner and I don't work well together.
ReplyDeleteI just bought the Smashbox Sheer Focus Tinted Moisturizer per your recommendation. And I love it! But I have a question, do you just apply it with your fingers or do you use a brush?
ReplyDeleteAn eyeliner you should try - Stila Smudge Pots...the best I have found. And it stays on all day!!Accutane Great for a night out too! Thanks for sharing. I wish I were blessed with your skin...
